Science fiction is very simply a fictional story written about science or using science as a core element. Science Fiction is usually written about a fictional future. Common elements seem to be space travel, robotics, and computers.
Science fiction is a genre Kodi enjoys reading, and some of his favorite works of fiction (Movies, Video Games, Books, etc.) are in the Science Fiction Genre. Scifi is also one of the two core genres Kodi focuses on, the other being fantasy.
Kodi wants to discover more scifi literature, works that can capture his interest. He also hopes to learn what composes scifi and maybe discover subgenres he was unaware of. Understanding what makes up the scifi genre may also help in writing scifi, which he is interested in.
Kodi's main interest is simply finding more works of science fiction that he can be interested in. He has a fairly broad background in scifi (even if it is a little shallow as well), from space travel to cyberspace and time travel to cybernetics. Space Opera to Cyberpunk.
There are five questions that Kodi wants to answer through this class:
How much does science fiction impact real science?
How does a scifi story change when real science proves it impossible?
What components tend to be present in science fiction?
What sort of process is followed to write science fiction?
Kodi hopes to be able to use any resources his teacher sees fit to provide him, as well as the teacher himself. He also hopes to be able to use his fellow students as resources as well.
